Dulwich Common, London SE21
Kitchen, dining and garden room rear extension to the ground floor of an existing 1930's house within the Dulwich Estate. The proposals move the kitchen located within the centre of the house to the rear, creating a new direct visual link and access to the rear garden. The new room provides a dining kitchen and entertaining space lit from above by linear rooflights and single sliding single-pane glazed doors. Utilising the space left by the original kitchen, a boot/shower room, utility kitchen/laundry and display wine fridges are now proposed. The contemporary architecture of the proposal has been informed by the original house, with the use of brickwork to compliment the existing and cast stone surrounds framing the window and door openings. To the side of the house a new enclosed porch is created provide a secondary entrance to the house and to internally link the kitchen, pantry and utility rooms.
Architectural service provided - undertaking initial feasibility and concept design, gaining planning approval (within a Conservation Area), gaining Dulwich Estates approval, technical design (incl. coordination of the structural design), obtaining building regulations approval and advisory role during tender process, builder appointment and construction.
